An End to an Arctic Week

Good Afternoon!

Today was full of learning in many different ways!

We started out with a family breakfast.  Look who I found:

Each morning when we are having snack, we count to ten in a different language and say "thank you" in that language.  We have done English, Spanish, German, Korean, Japenese, Dutch, Sign Language, and attempted French.  To help us get a better handle on French, Miss Siepel's third grade class came to our room.  Miss Siepel is a fluent French speaker and teaches her class French throughout the school year.  We partnered up to learn a French counting song.

Here we are singing and counting to 10 in French!!!

Then our 2nd grade buddies came and we did some reading together.  It's so fun to see the kindergarteners reading to their buddies!

We finished up our week long project: Antarctic Research Stations!  Today's task was to paint the clay animals that we made yesterday.  They turned out great!

Have a wonderful weekend!  See you on Monday!

Love,
Mrs. Huettl

Creating Shapes

Today we created our own 3-d shapes using toothpicks and marshmallows!  Our cubes and pyramids soon turned into elaborate creations with multiple levels!  We had so much fun trying to figure out how to give our designs the most solid structure.  Here are a TON of pictures:
